This radar sensor from innosent.de is not the typical sensor for objects but it can recognized objects. The sensor has a UART on 1MB and after you programmed it with the tools that you can get from the manufacturer you can get the data from the sensor. 

This sensor allows to ignore small animals like cats.You should check the manufacturer site. It is a great sensor with many options. Of course it is also more expensive compared to the simple IR detectors. I imagine that this is a sensor for a professional burglar alarm. 

User BlackSky made it simple to test and interface the sensor with bascom.
