Is there a way to set the BASCOM editor or use BASCOM in conjuntion with a different editor (but prefer to just stay within the BASCOM IDE) so that the capitalization of the variables stays intact throughout?

It appears that if you set the "Dont change case" to checked then it does just that. But if you leave it unchecked and then have a variable name like

VarName it will change it to Varname...

VB6 does not do this.. It is easier, for me, to read when done VarName.

Thanks all

Tim

Hi,

Simple check the "Don't change case" as you figured out yourself.
And the "Reformat BAS files" and "Reformat code" unchecked.

It'd be nice if Bascom did like VB and, when "change case" is on, change the case to the same as you used in the Dim statement.

So if you use:

"Dim bButtonHit as Byte"

then later on type in "bbuttonhit"

Bascom would change that to "bButtonHit" as used in the Dim statment instead of the current "Bbuttonhit".

Silly little things but it does make the VB editor nice to use Razz

Yes! This is exactly what I am looking for a means to do. The first reply posted suggestion did not appear to help....

Sure would make it an easier IDE to use if it did that!

Now i understand what you mean, it would be a nice feature.
For my PC software i use Delphi and even they dont'n support it.
But i hope that in the new Bascom IDE this is supported.

Frank.

I'd like that too - but its not super-high on my priority list. I see it more of a "Do it when he feels like it" thing. There are actual for real bugs to quash and other things that bascom needs to add support for which I'd hate to see being held up while Mark did something like this.

Which are these real bugs?
Did you sent them to support?

And for the smart cap, that is implemented in the new IDE, thus not in an update since the new IDE will be a new product.

Hi Mark,

Any more info/idea on the new IDE? I'd really like to be able to write the code in a case sensitive format that is more readable for me.

Thanks!

Will it be a new Bascom AVR IDE, or will it support other Chips like the AVR32 ?
