For some reason I can no longer get the time from NTP servers
This is on working AVRs that have not had changes made to the code
The wiznet function returns 0 and even the old ENC28J60 server no longer works
Tried different time servers , 3 different internet connections
I think maybe a change has occurred to the time servers with maybe an update to software.
Does the SNTP command still work for some one
Regards Paul

Thank you Michael
I have looked at using your code
But I thought I would first ask
as it means the SNTP() function no longer works
If some one can get it working ok
then I could test with the time server they used
The problem with the ENC28J60 server is that the TCPIP is in the AVR

notice that bascom SNTP function is for SNTP server : S is from Simple.
A number of them stopped their service. you could try this one : 130.149.17.21
but you can also switch to the NTP protocol. Michael made it excellent and clear. _________________ Mark |

Thank you Mark
Yes I think maybe all are stopping the SNTP service
I am thinking of writng the code to make the AVR a respond to the SNTP request
But first I have to get DNS working to get an IP from the pool and then NTP working
Yes Michael has done a lot of work and explained it well
I have already done a lot of reading with the ENC28J60
Its just more work I was not expecting at the moment.
Regards Paul
Update: Mark the server did not work |

Hi Paul,
Same problem here with the timeserver. After some sniffing with Wireshark I found out the my provider didn't supported it anymore.
Try the first one from this list; http://tf.nist.gov/tf-cgi/servers.cgi
Worked for me with Ben Zijlstra his code on the Mega32 with RTL8019.
What I understand of it is what Ben used not NTP or SNTP but Time Protocol. _________________ www.evertdekker.com Bascom code vault |

I have the ENC28J60 now working with one of the servers on the list
Have to do more testing with the wiznet later
