|
|
Hello dear reader,
I'm using (and enjoying) the code explorer quite a bit.
Unfortunately when using the line
$include MyTWI.bas
the code explorer does not contain anything, the program works as expected though.
Upon changing the line to
$include 'MyTWI.bas
the explorer shows what is expected.
What am I missing?
Thanks
(BASCOM-AVR version : 2.0.7.8 ) |

Where in the help for $include did you read that quotation marks are unnecessary decoration? |

Dear MWS,
thanks for your friendly comment.
Unfortunately - and I mean it - adding quotation marks doesn't make any difference.
In addition the program compiles and works without those quotation marks.
So I'm back to square one.
Any other idea?

Here it does, if the quotation marks are missing, the code explorer does not list any of the included file's labels, variables a.s.o.

You're the one asking and needing help, so it's your duty to provide the facts, based on which an proper answer is possible.
Means: provide a simplified sample, where users can reproduce (or not) what you describe.
Well, and before I've answered, I actually tested, the code-explorer window was populated with entries, doesn't matter if $include "MyTWI.bas" was contained in the code or not, only the quotation marks had the said effect.
If your program behaves differently, it may have something to do with your installation, or it has to do with the files you actually use.
If it's your Bascom installation, support may be the right addressee, if it's problem of the files, provide them, so others can check.
But only complaining "my car's radio goes off, as I activate the wiper, what's the problem?" is unkind to the readers, and this way my previous reply was to understand. |

Hello MWS,
thank you for your elaborate response.
You probably put it into the right perspective. I'm living with that "observation" for more than 6 months now, it doesn't really impair my work, my programs work as expected. Perhaps I shouldn't have asked in the first place.
Sorry

Can't understand that. If it does not behave as intended, it has to be fixed.
If this will take some efforts, so be it, but then it needs to be done with coordination.
Asking whether somebody else may get an empty code explorer window, if same somebody uses a certain include, is not the kind of coordination promising success.
Sure guessing is possible, here's one: copy your code, special insert as plain text into the Windows editor, copy again and write back to the source code file. Special chars, which may disturb the editor, are removed this way. |
