Everyone knows on this forum how passionate I am about measuring time and clocks. It so happens that my village is the place where the famous organ piece "le carillon-de-Longpont" was composed. Unfortunately the bells heard by the composer were destroyed.
We bought two bells to find the sound of the carillon and to finance this purchase we organized concerts. And I made chime clocks playing the theme of this tune.
The challenge was not easy, the prices were extremely tight I did not have to exceed 70 € to have a selling price leaving a small margin. I made 20. all sold (19 and one for me)
If you go in France come and listen to the sound of the bells (and come to see me it will be my pleasure)
Here are the features of the clock:
Hour-minute-second
day-date-month-year
leap year
Adjustable ringtone
Sunrise Sunset
Length of day
Variation in day length
Moon phase
Race of the sun on the planisphere
Zodiac sign
Weekly awakening
Timer
Presence detector

I have used A AVR128DA28 to do it, 2 capa, 1 r and some modules Ds3231, MP3 player...
I you are interested by the project I will send you the, program, the tones, the list of matérials the draw of box..
I add too the .pdf operating manual of it

hi JP

Yes i know about this great endeavor. Great that you succeeded. There are little carillons left. We still have quit a number in our country.
The models you made look like a bargain for the buyer.
It would be great to have a video where is plays, and the original carillon as well.
The PDF is in french, sure a translator will fix that.
I know there are more clock builders on the forum. I am sure they can appreciate your project.
I would love to see the complete code and details. But i am a nerd that like to look at code and circuits Very Happy
I leave it to the other forum members to respond.

Anyway the most important thing is that the Bells are restored and the Carillon is saved. Well done!
Whenever i retire or am nearby i will make a visit for sure.

Hi Mark,

Yes, I have to make a video, but it's very difficult because the sound recording has to be done when there are no cars.
For the history
The bells were cast by the Royal Eijbouts in Asten (NL) because the French founder we had chosen had a major problem with his furnace. Following this problem, the other French founders had to do extra work and the deadline was extended to 3 years.
The Dutch foundryman gave us a good price and did an excellent job. There's a bit of Holland in Longpont. Wink

Your clock faces are really good.

So far I have made 3 electronic clocks in my lifetime one is with bascom
is in the examples , one was last millennium with glass display tubes when led's
were not common and now with ESP8266 with arduino this may be of interest to
you as it gets it time from the internet time servers with slight modification to
the code it could send time out of the ESP8266 serial port on command thus setting
your clock to very accurate time automatically note it already sends hours and mins.
Also looking into DWIN displays they are like the nextion my 3D printer has one thus my interest.

Mark,JC and Paul
Thanks for the comments.

the difficulty with the display Nextion discovery range is that there aren't many possibilities and especially no transparency.

For example, to display the seconds at 6 o'clock, every second I rewrite the screen and the hands in white and then reprint them in black, which I don't have to do with the "intelligent" screens.
but I had very strict budget constraints

Paul,
I looked at the Dwin site, they have a very interesting range, but that goes beyond the subject of the post. maybe you can make a post on it ?
